A Joyful World’s Fair Site Maternity Session

A World’s Fair Site maternity session always has a way of feeling both classic and connected to Knoxville at the same time. With the Sunsphere standing tall in the background and plenty of room for Cadence to run and explore, it created the perfect setting for the Clark family as they prepare to welcome their newest addition.

From the moment we started, Kari and Stefan brought such a calm, steady energy to their session. And of course, Cadence added the perfect spark of personality that made the entire experience feel light, playful, and full of life.

At every maternity session, I always ask mom how she’s feeling. How the pregnancy is going. What this season has looked like for her. When I asked Kari, she shared how different this pregnancy has been compared to when she carried Cadence. Completely opposite, actually. You always hear those old wives’ tales that girls “steal your beauty” and boys give you that glow, but for Kari (and honestly, for me, too, in my own pregnancies), that didn’t exactly stand true.

This pregnancy has come with more challenges and hurdles than her first. She has truly walked through it with so much strength and grace though. Being so close to the finish line now, there’s this quiet anticipation you can just feel when you’re around them.

One of my favorite parts of this World’s Fair Site maternity session was intentionally spending time connecting with Cadence. Becoming a big sister is such a big transition. I always want older siblings to feel seen, known, and important. Not just during the maternity session, but especially when I show up later for their newborn photos.

So, we played, we laughed, we talked, we raced, and somewhere along the way, we became little besties. By the end of our time together, she was running up to me, ready to race, ready to fist bump, and completely comfortable in front of my camera.

And that’s exactly what I hope for.

Because when I walk back into their home to photograph their baby boy, I know Cadence will greet me like an old friend. And that makes all the difference.

The Clark family’s World’s Fair Site maternity session wasn’t just about documenting a pregnancy. It was about honoring the journey, the challenges, the excitement of a family stepping into a brand new season together.
