There are some sessions where the stories behind the photos make them even more memorable. That’s exactly what happened at Allison & Mike’s White Room maternity session.
In the days leading up to their shoot, Mike was out in Oregon visiting a friend. Like so many travelers lately, his return plans quickly unraveled. His flight was delayed over and over until it was eventually canceled altogether. With no other choice, he spent the night in the airport before catching an early flight the next morning. Yes, the very same day as our session! After being awake all night, he finally landed back in Knoxville around 3pm, rushed home, changed clothes, and he and Allison headed straight to The White Room for their session.
You’d never guess how exhausted he was because from the moment we started, these two were full of laughter and joy. Between Allison’s third trimester glow and Mike’s quick wit, the session felt more like an evening hanging out with friends than a photoshoot. Allison had me cracking up talking about everything from going barefoot and forgetting to paint her toenails to curling her super long pregnancy hair and putting the finishing touches on the nursery. Somehow, even the most ordinary conversations turned hilarious with these two.
That’s what made this maternity session so special. It wasn’t just about the beautiful, light-filled space of The White Room or the elegant portraits we captured. It was about documenting Allison & Mike’s story exactly as it is right now: full of anticipation, laughter, and a deep love that carries them through the chaos of travel delays and the challenges of pregnancy.
I can’t wait to see these two step into parenthood because their baby is already so loved. If this session is any indication, it will grow up surrounded by joy and humor.
