Urban Engagement Session in Downtown Knoxville

Sarah & Lewis made the drive from Atlanta to Knoxville for their urban engagement session. From the very first moment, I knew this was going to be such a fun evening. We kicked things off at Maker Exchange inside The Tennessean lobby. It was the perfect stylish, modern starting point. They grabbed a cocktail, settled in, and we eased into the session by wandering around the space. I love beginning engagement sessions in a spot like this because it instantly sets a relaxed, natural tone.

After a quick outfit change, we made our way to Gay Street for a new vibe. Sarah & Lewis chose to start at the classic black-and-white tile on the porch of the old Knox County Courthouse, a true Knoxville landmark. From there, we explored Main Street, finding historic architecture in front of an old church and beautiful landscaping in front of the bank Sarah’s dad used to work at! I love shooting an urban engagement session in Downtown Knoxville because each one can feel uniquely their own with different backdrops. As we walked from one spot to the next, these two had me laughing so hard with all their stories. It was so easy to see how much joy they bring to each other’s lives. I just know their wedding day will be nothing short of incredible.

The fun didn’t stop there. I actually had the chance to meet Sarah’s parents the very next day at the Spaces in the City open house. Just like Sarah & Lewis, they radiate warmth and kindness. Their lighthearted, joyful energy made me feel like I had known them for years. It’s always such a gift when you get to meet family members before the wedding. And this meeting confirmed for me how special this celebration is going to be.

Sarah & Lewis’s Knoxville urban engagement session was everything I hope for: laughter, connection, and a little adventure. If this session was any glimpse of what’s to come, their wedding is going to be absolutely unforgettable.
