A Weekday Spring Wedding at The Trillium

Holly and Justin’s weekday spring wedding at The Trillium was so gorgeous and fun. From the slower pace of a midweek celebration to the intentional time spent with their people, everything about their day felt meaningful and relaxed, exactly how a wedding day should.

Traveling in from Florida, Holly and Justin brought 75 of their closest friends and family to the Smoky Mountains to celebrate alongside them. For many of their guests, it was their first time visiting East Tennessee, and hearing their reactions throughout the evening was so fun. They absolutely loved it; the views, the atmosphere, the experience of being tucked away in the mountains. I know this area isn’t for everyone, but I really do love it so much, and getting to see others experience it for the first time never gets old.

And as if the setting wasn’t already perfect, they got incredibly lucky with the weather. A March wedding in the mountains can truly go either way, but their day was filled with beautiful temperatures and clear skies that made everything feel even more magical.

One of the most special parts of their day was including their two pups in portraits. They were truly the stars of the show for a few minutes. Calm, cooperative, and completely stealing the spotlight in the sweetest way. It’s always so meaningful when couples find ways to include pieces of their everyday life into their wedding day, and this was such a perfect example of that.

During Holly’s getting ready time, I asked her my usual question: did she think Justin would cry? She didn’t think so, which made it even more special when he got emotional during their first look and again during their vows. Seeing that kind of unexpected emotion is always so powerful, and it meant so much to her in the moment.

The emotional moments carried into the reception as well. When Holly’s stepdad gave his toast, he spoke about his love for her in such a heartfelt way that you could feel it throughout the entire room. It was one of those moments where everyone seemed to have a sudden “allergy flare-up” at the exact same time. And just when everyone thought they had pulled themselves together, Holly gave a speech honoring her mom. You could feel the depth of their relationship in every word she spoke. I looked around the room and truly don’t think there was a single dry eye. It was one of those moments that sticks with you long after the day is over.

Holly and Justin’s weekday spring wedding was filled with so much heart, intention, and genuine connection. I was absolutely honored to photograph it for them!
