There’s something so timeless about a studio newborn session, and the Gash family’s latest milestone was one I’ll never forget. I’ve had the honor of photographing every stage of this family’s journey, and now, they’ve welcomed their third little one into the world. She was an angel during her studio newborn session at The White Room, sleeping peacefully and soaking up all the love from her big brother and big sister.
My favorite way to photograph a studio newborn session is when there are older siblings to participate. While I always walk in with a plan for poses, nothing ever compares to the natural moments that unfold between siblings and their newest baby. Ella and Cal were the perfect example of that. Even though neither of them was feeling 100%, they still did so well during our time together. Ella was a little shy at first, but once I started tickling Cal’s belly with a silk flower, the giggles & smiles came alive. Those authentic smiles and sweet sibling cuddles made for some of my favorite images from the session.
Another special touch for this family is their tradition with cuddle+kind stuffies. Each baby has their own, and the family always brings them to milestone sessions and annual portraits. It’s such a unique way to document growth—watching the kids get bigger and bigger compared to their cuddle+kind friends. If you don’t know the story behind cuddle+kind, it’s worth looking up. It’s precious and adds even more meaning to these photos.
The Gash family’s studio newborn session was filled with love, laughter, and tender sibling moments. Baby Gracie couldn’t have asked for a sweeter welcome into the world, and I can’t wait to continue capturing this family’s story as the kids grow.
