A Sunny Ramble Creek Wedding

Hugging him from behind at Ramble Creek wedding by Amanda May Photos

It’s strange how most of the time that I am shooting at Ramble Creek it’s in the winter. I had one in late fall, but they have all been chilly weddings in seasons that hold more overcast, gray skies than bright sunny ones. As we headed into Kaitlin & Ryan’s sunny Ramble Creek wedding day, it was forecasted to be overcast. The rain chances were dancing all over the place and I really thought it was going to be gray skies all day. The opposite happened though, and you know how I love the sunshine. I love working with light and using it to my advantage to make my images bright and light and glowy. Clients say to me all the time “well, overcast is the best light for photos right??” ummm… for some people 🤷. It’s not that I don’t like overcast or that I don’t shoot in overcast skies, but I LOVE the sunshine. I never know how to answer these clients when they mention that overcast is the best because they are saying it in the situation that it is currently overcast on the day of their wedding/session. If I say “actually, no… I love the sunshine the best” then I’m confessing that their current situation with me is not my favorite. However, just because it’s not my favorite, doesn’t mean it’s not still great and it doesn’t mean that I don’t still get images that I absolutely love. I can still shoot bright images that match my style and in some situations, I can shoot in directions that I wouldn’t normally get to shoot in, which definitely an advantage. But on Kaitlin’s and Ryan’s day, it was sunny sunny sunny all day long and we had some stunning sunset photos!

I met Kaitlin & Ryan through Kaitlin’s sister, Kara. I photographed Kara’s wedding in December of 2022 at Castleton Farms and Kaitlin booked with me right after we took Kara’s engagement photos. The first thing they both said to me, in two separate conversations, was how different they are from one another. Kaitlin described Kara as the sister that is over the top extra and Kara described Kaitlin as super low key and the opposite of extra. The beauty of getting to shoot both of these weddings within a 6 month time frame is that I could easily compare and contrast the two and it was exactly true… one was more extra, the other was more low key, both were stunning and I love so much that they stayed true to who they were and their weddings reflected that!
