A Stunning Sunset Wedding at The Loyston

Watching the sunset at The Loyston Wedding Venue by Amanda May Photos

Last week I helped put together a gorgeous styled shoot at a new venue in town called The Loyston at Copper Top Estates. The point of attraction at The Loyston is the incredible view that it has. Some layered mountains with Norris Lake weaving between them all will leave you speechless. I wanted to list out some highlights of this venue in regard to some of the key things that may be important to couples who are considering The Loyston as a wedding venue:

  1. The Getting Ready suites. The Loyston has a room for both the bride and the groom to get ready in. It is a classy, well lit, beautifully furnished space with private restrooms, mirrors, comfortable seating, and all the things you need to spend your wedding day morning prepping in one of these suites.
  2. Parking. With a massive parking lot right in front of the main building, your guests will not have to worry about find a parking spot. It also is not a mile long hike to get to the building from the lot, AND the cars will not end up in the background of your photos :-).
  3. Capacity. The Loyston venue is great for hosting events for 150 people or less. That is the size of an average wedding in East TN so should be able to accommodate most couples’ guestlist!
  4. Climate Control. This is a biggie. There are lots and lots and lots of venues in East TN that do not have heating and air. It is the FIRST thing your guests will notice on a hot or cold day. And while I would like to believe that the weather on your wedding day will be perfect and that it won’t matter, those days are less often than stifling heat or freezing cold temps. If you visit your venue in a season of wonderful weather you may not even think about it, but trust me when I tell you that you will LOVE having air conditioning and a climate-controlled location for your wedding. And if that weather ends up being perfect, you can always roll up all the garage doors and have an indoor/outdoor experience!
  5. Lighting. This is really critical from a photography perspective. Many couples want the mountain views but don’t realize how much of a role lighting plays into actually being able to see those mountains. Either, the sun is setting where it’s shining directly in your eyes and on the mountains and you can see the mountains in the background but also you are blinded. Or the sun is setting behind the mountains and while it’s beautiful lighting for you, it doesn’t necessarily lend itself to being able to see the view at it’s prettiest. The most ideal is when the sun sets to the left or the right. Then neither you or your guests are blinded and the view isn’t overexposed to the extent of not being to see it in the background of your photos. That is The Loyston. The sun sets off to the left and leaves that perfect glow to both see the mountains and your faces flawlessly!
  6. Overnight Accommodations. There are two cabins on the property that will hold a TON of people. It’s amazing to be able to stay there the night before your wedding with your wedding party and the night of your wedding with just you and your spouse!
  7. Distance. One of the best parts about this venue is the drive. You don’t have to worry about it being too far out in the country… it’s only about a 35 minute drive from downtown Knoxville and is a super easy, scenic drive as well!
  8. Rentals. The Loyston provides tables and chairs for your ceremony and reception. That is a massive savings in rentals!
  9. Vendor List. Some venues come with a preferred vendor list that you have to use or pay a fee for not using. There are reasons for this that go beyond the scope of this blog post… but at The Loyston, you can pull off of their vendor list if you’d like, or you can bring your own vendors in at no additional charge. Here are the perks of pulling off of their vendor list though. Their list will include a team that has worked together before. They know the flow of one another’s typical work day, they know where there may be some slack to help with or who to ask if they need help. This team has worked at The Loyston and knows the best ways to do certain things at this particular venue. Not to say that going outside their list will be a bad decision, but consider what you are sacrificing before you do!
  10. Price. This is always a subjective topic. Expensive is defined differently by every single person. While I don’t know exact figures, I can confidently say that The Loyston is cheaper now than it will ever be again. Right now is the time to hop on this venue. It is a high-end, more luxury-style venue and as soon as it catches, it’s going to spread like wildfire. So if you are getting married right now… come tour this place… I have a feeling you are going to fall in love!
