Ramble Creek Summer Wedding || Emily & Nathan

A Ramble Creek Summer Wedding with SO Many Sweet Moments

This past weekend, I had the honor of photographing Emily & Nathan’s wedding. I’ve photographed many beautiful celebrations over the years, but this Ramble Creek summer wedding will always stand out to me for one simple reason: the way Emily & Nathan love each other.

Now, I know what you’re probably thinking—of course they’re in love, they just got married! But what I witnessed between these two went far deeper than the fluttery emotions we often associate with wedding days. Their love was built on something richer: mutual respect, grace, and an unshakable commitment to one another. From the moment I first met them at their engagement session, it was clear that their relationship wasn’t just about romance. It was about truly choosing each other every day no matter what.

One of my favorite moments was when Emily and Nathan exchanged gifts. Emily surprised Nathan with a record player—not just any record player, but one that came with a custom vinyl filled with their favorite songs and photos of the two of them on the sleeve. Nathan’s gift to Emily left us all speechless: a handmade box filled with thirty (or more?) letters. Each letter was labeled for her to open at different milestones in their life together. One for the morning of their wedding, one for after their first fight, one for their first anniversary, one for the day they welcome their first child, and so many more. When I asked Nathan how long it took him to write all of them, he shrugged and said, “Oh, a couple months.” A couple months! That’s the kind of intentional, eloquent love he poured into his bride.

Emily also had a sweet surprise for her mom and sister. Growing up, their family nickname was “Team Pye,” after Emily’s maiden name, and their parents always cheered them on with it at swim meets. As a way to honor that legacy, Emily gifted her mom and sister matching rings to hers, all engraved with Team Pye. While her last name may have changed, she’ll forever be part of Team Pye!

And of course, we have to talk about the weather. All week long, the forecast was bouncing from 90% rain to 10% and back again. Even on the morning of the wedding, it looked like the coastal storms were heading straight for us. But the Lord’s timing was so gracious—every single pocket of rain held off exactly when we needed it to. We captured all of their portraits, enjoyed their ceremony outside with cloudy skies and a cool breeze while thunder rolled off in the distance, and just as everyone headed to the covered patio for cocktail hour, the rain came down. By the time family photos wrapped up inside, the skies cleared again, giving us the chance to sneak back out for even more portraits in one of their favorite spots on the property.

Emily & Nathan, your wedding was a testament to love lived out through action, respect, and faith. Your Ramble Creek Summer Wedding wasn’t just a celebration—it was a reminder that marriage is about caring for one another through storms, through joy, and through every little moment in between. What a privilege it was to capture it all.
