The Clarks who have become such a consistent part of my photography journey. I’ve photographed this sweet family more than eight times since I first met them, and every time I get to see them again, it feels like catching up with old friends.
For this Powell Home milestone session, we were celebrating baby Tanner turning six months old! Kari and Stephen welcomed me into their new home along with big sister Cadence, and I seriously cannot believe we are already halfway between Tanner’s newborn session and his first birthday.
Newborn sessions are such a funny stage because parents are still figuring their babies out. You’re learning their rhythms, their preferences, their little personalities, and you don’t quite know yet if you have an “easy” baby on your hands. But by six months? Oh, you know.
And I am very happy to report that Tanner has been the easiest, chillest little guy for Kari and Stephen. A full 180 from their cutie Cadence, who may have been a slightly more challenging baby. But Cadence has absolutely transformed as she’s gotten older, and watching her as a big sister was one of my favorite parts of this session.
She loves Tanner. Like, cannot-stop-kissing-him kind of love. At one point, she was holding Tanner, had the pup wrapped around the neck, and was still smiling straight at my camera. A little model if I’ve ever seen one!
My history with the Clark family goes back years now. I’ve watched Kari and Stephen get married, welcome two babies, and build two houses. We also share a love for Hope Resource Center so I get to see Kari’s mom and dad every spring at their annual gala. I’ve even had the opportunity to photograph Kari’s big sister and her family through my annual Hope mini sessions!
It’s pretty incredible to think about how many chapters of this family’s story I’ve gotten to witness through my camera. From wedding photos to newborn snuggles to this Powell Home milestone session, I’m incredibly thankful that they continue inviting me back.
And somehow, the NEXT time I see them, baby Tanner will be turning one!!!

Kari, Stephen, Cadence, and Tanner, thank you for trusting me again and again with your family. Getting to watch your babies grow and your family change through the years is something I’ll never take for granted. See you at one, sweet Tanner!
