There’s something extra sweet about walking into the home of a past bride and groom to photograph an entirely new chapter of their lives. A few years ago, I photographed Savannah and Chase’s wedding. Now, they officially have two under two!
I headed to their home in Powell for Cannon’s newborn session. From the second I arrived, I was obsessed with all the little details Savannah had ready for us. She had some of the cutest little stuffies to incorporate into Cannon’s photos, and I could not get over them. Add in one incredibly cooperative newborn, and this session was such a fun one to photograph.
Then there’s big brother Bodie.
Sweet Bodie is only 18 months old, but I totally did to Savannah what everyone used to do to me when Grayson was little. I assumed he was already two because he is such a big boy! The second I realized he was only 18 months, I felt terrible because I remember this happening to me. And, if we’re being real, people kind of still do it to Grayson!
Bodie impressed me with how well he handled this session. Especially at only 18 months old. His whole little world has just changed. Suddenly, he’s sharing Mom and Dad, grandparents, attention, snuggles, and his home with a brand-new baby brother.
And he was handling it like a champ.
He kept leaning in to give Cannon kisses and hugs, checking him out, and loving on him throughout our time together. We didn’t get a ton of photos of just the two brothers, which is completely normal when your oldest is still basically a baby himself, but there was absolutely no question that Bodie already loves his little brother.
And Cannon? He was amazing. Truly, I cannot say enough about how well this little guy did for his newborn photos. He let us move through the session so smoothly, and I’m completely obsessed with the images we created in their home.
Getting invited back into the lives of past wedding couples is one of my favorite parts of doing this job for so many years. I’ve gotten to follow along as Savannah and Chase have grown professionally, built their family, welcomed Bodie, and now added sweet Cannon to the crew. It’s such an honor when a couple who trusted me with their wedding day continues trusting me with these milestones years later.
And finally, can we talk about his name?!
Cannon might just be one of my favorite baby names ever.
I’m not biased or anything. It’s not like I’ve spent my entire photography career shooting Canon or anything.
