Colorful Stairs Senior Session at World’s Fair Park
Jessica’s colorful stairs senior session in Downtown Knoxville was everything I hoped it would be and more! If you have ever driven down Cumberland Avenue toward downtown, you may have noticed a set of beautifully painted stairs on your right. I have loved this colorful location ever since the stairs were painted years ago, and I was so excited when Jessica chose them for her senior portraits.
When Jessica arrived wearing hot pink scrubs, I was over the moon. The vibrant pink looked incredible against the colorful stairs and made the entire setting come alive. Her scrubs also celebrated the career she had worked so hard to begin, making these portraits feel especially meaningful. I absolutely love how the images from this part of her session turned out.
For the middle portion of Jessica’s senior session, she changed into a beautiful white sundress. Then, we wandered around World’s Fair Site. I typically park near the Foundry and photograph that half of the park first. Because we began Jessica’s session at the colorful stairs, however, we entered from the opposite side. That simple change gave me a completely different perspective on a familiar location. I had so much fun with it!
The World’s Fair site offers the perfect combination of urban scenery and natural beauty. You can include the downtown Knoxville skyline, the Sunsphere, concrete stairs, and interesting architecture in your portraits. At the same time, the park features gorgeous green trees, a bright lawn, waterfalls, and beautifully manicured landscaping. It is a wonderfully versatile location, especially for someone who cannot decide between an urban setting and a grassy, natural backdrop.
Another reason I enjoy photographing sessions here is that I rarely have to compete with crowds of other photographers. It often feels like we have the entire park to ourselves, giving us plenty of room to explore and create something unique.
Jessica has officially graduated, is seeing patients of her own at her dad’s dermatology practice, and has even purchased her own home. She is truly stepping into an exciting new season and absolutely killing it at life! I am so grateful I had the opportunity to document this milestone with a Colorful Stairs Senior Session that reflected both her personality and her accomplishments.
