Cloudy Engagement Session at Melton Hill Park

If I had a dollar for every cloudy session in May, I might have enough to bribe the sun to stick around a little longer! It’s been one gray day after another lately. I don’t know about you, but I am so ready for sunshine that stays longer than five minutes. That said, cloudy days do enable me to shoot in directions I wouldn’t normally get to shoot and Emily & Trevor’s engagement session at Melton Hill Park is proof of that. I found a new favorite spot that I will certainly be taking all of my other clients to!

I met Emily a month or so ago during her nursing school senior session at Collective 35 (which included her adorable dogs!), and I was so excited to have her in front of my camera again. This time with her fiancé, Trevor. The cloudy skies couldn’t dampen their sweet connection or the fun we had wandering through the park.

And yes—the pups were back! I’m all for making engagement sessions a family affair when fur babies are involved. Their dogs were the best little additions, and it’s clear they’re both totally obsessed with them. One of their pups is even in training to be a hunting dog, and watching Trevor work on a few training cues mid-session was so fascinating. Seriously, animal training is an art form. The patience, consistency, and calm energy required? That’s not in my skillset, but Trevor clearly has it down.

Meanwhile, Emily is the ultimate dog mom—snuggling, laughing, letting them lick her face, and just soaking up every minute with them. Their dynamic as a couple is so fun to witness: Trevor calm and focused, Emily joyful and affectionate. They balance each other so well.

This session marked the start of a summer full of love stories, and I’m so honored to be documenting theirs. Even if I’m sweating my skin off by July, give me all the sunshine, golden hours, and love-filled moments. Summer, I’m ready for you—and for more couples like Emily & Trevor!
