Tanner and Kylie’s Norris Dam engagement session was such a fun reminder of why I love photographing couples who start the session with the phrase: “We’re so awkward in front of the camera.” Spoiler alert—those are almost always the people who totally nail it.
Tanner and Kylie moved to Knoxville from Louisiana so Kylie could attend pharmacy school at the University of Tennessee. With their wedding at The Loyston about a year away, they wanted their engagement session to reflect a place they love and visit often: Norris Dam State Park. It was the perfect backdrop for their laid-back, joyful energy.
Despite telling me how nervous they were, they completely proved themselves wrong within the first ten minutes. Their chemistry is so natural and fun. Lots of laughter, genuine smiles, and that kind of ease with one another that can’t be posed. They smile with their whole face, and I was obsessed with how easy it was to capture their connection.
We stopped at a few spots throughout the park, including one along the river where Tanner told me about his first trout fishing experience. I love when couples choose locations that mean something to them. It makes the session feel more like a story unfolding than just a pretty backdrop.
This Norris Dam engagement session was full of laughter, memories, and meaningful moments. Tanner and Kylie, you two are truly a joy, and I cannot wait for your wedding at The Loyston next year!
