When a couple hires me as their wedding photographer, they automatically receive an engagement session in their collection. I’ve always loved using that time as a “trial run”—a chance to build trust, get comfortable in front of the camera, and create beautiful portraits without the time constraints of a wedding day. But Rylie & Haydn decided to do something totally unique with theirs, and I loved every second of it.
Rather than choosing a casual location or outfit for their engagement session, Rylie and Haydn went full glam. Rylie wore a gorgeous white dress, created her own bouquet, and even slipped on a wedding band. Haydn wore a classic black suit and a matching ring. They got all dressed up and met me at The Grand Hall at Nichols Heir for a golden-hour session that looked like it came straight out of a bridal editorial. While Rylie did her hair, makeup, and bouquet differently than she did on the actual wedding day, the entire look still felt so timeless, romantic, and bridal. It was such a creative spin on an engagement session, and I can’t wait to share those portraits in their own dedicated post soon. They paired beautifully with their actual wedding photos—and I’m so curious to see which ones they end up printing for their home!
Their Nichols Heir summer wedding at the end of July was just as dreamy. The Grand Hall looked stunning with soft florals and delicate details that reflected Rylie & Haydn’s style so perfectly. The love between them was undeniable, and the energy from their family and friends made the celebration unforgettable.
Rylie & Haydn, thank you for trusting me to document your day—and your season leading up to it. It was such an honor to witness your joy.
