Over the last five years, I’ve had the absolute honor of photographing the Smith family about ten different times, and every single session just gets sweeter. Delaney and Devin are originally one of my AMP wedding couples. Since then, I’ve documented so many beautiful milestones in their lives. From their wedding day to maternity and newborn portraits for their firstborn, Walker, and now, this precious season as they prepare to welcome their baby girl, Mabry.
One of the many things I love about the Smiths is how much they value both family and community. Not only have they let me into their lives time and time again, but they’ve also shown up year after year to support my Hope Resource Center mini session fundraiser. That support means the world to me. Not just because of what it does for the nonprofit, but because it’s a reflection of who they are: kind, loyal, and full of heart.
This session felt like such a full-circle moment. I originally photographed Walker while he was still in Delaney’s belly. So seeing him run around with his energetic joy and little country accent made me smile the whole time. Toddlerhood is truly my favorite stage. I love their wild independence, their unpredictable antics, and the challenge of winning them over. And sure enough, Walker was no exception. At the end, he ran into my arms, giggling, and let me toss him in the air.
Photographing families like the Smiths never feels like “just another session.” It feels like hanging out with old friends, catching up on life, and getting the privilege of documenting another chapter of their story. I truly adore this family, and I can’t wait to meet little Mabry soon.
