Fresh 48 Newborn Session for Baby Sam Lucheon

There are some couples who leave a lasting impression on your heart. So, photographing them again, even years later, feels like catching up with old friends. Mary Beth and Josh are absolutely one of those couples. From the moment I photographed their wedding a few years ago, I knew they were something special. The kind of sweet, joyful, and genuinely precious people whose love just radiates. Their joy for life is contagious, and now, watching them as a family of four, my heart has never been happier for them.

Baby Sam decided to make his entrance a little earlier than expected. Mary Beth went into labor just shy of 36 weeks. Technically, this was a preemie fresh 48 newborn session, but you would never know it by looking at him. The Lord saw fit to bring him into the world completely healthy, strong, and absolutely beautiful even without hitting that 36 week mark. Meeting him in the hospital for his fresh 48 session was such a sweet moment. There’s something incredibly sacred about photographing those first hours of a baby’s life. Those tiny fingers, sleepy smiles, and relieved parents soaking in a brand new chapter is amazing.

A couple of weeks later, I joined the Lucheon family in their home for Sam’s newborn session, and it was pure magic. Their house was wrapped in the coziest Christmas decor. Of course, Sam even had his very own little blue Christmas tree in his room, which might be one of my favorite nursery details ever. He slept like a champ the entire time and was so cuddly and content.

Big sister Evie kept us all laughing. At two years old, she was in her normal “I have my own plans” era, but watching Mary Beth and Josh parent with such ease, patience, and grace reminded me so much of their wedding day. The same quiet tenderness, deep love, and intentionality.

Undoubtedly, an invitation back into my couples’ lives for these milestone moments will forever be one of the greatest honors of my job. Sweet Sam, you are so loved. And, Lucheon family, thank you for trusting me with your story once again.
