Wedding Planning 101: Wedding Favors

Wedding Favors That Will Wow Your Guests

When you think about wedding favors, you’re really thinking about the last little touch your guests take home. A final way of saying “thank you for celebrating with us.” Over the years, I’ve seen favors at every price point, every style, and every level of creativity. Some are sweet and simple, others are completely unforgettable. Today’s post walks you through options from the most common to the most unique, complete with cost guides ($–$$$) to help you plan with confidence.

1. Classic Edible Treats — $

You can never go wrong with food.

Think mini honey jars, local chocolates, homemade cookies, or bags of artisan popcorn. These always disappear quickly, are easy to customize with tags or monograms, and fit beautifully into any budget. If you want a favor that pleases everyone without added stress, this is the timeless choice.

2. Useful Take-Home Goodies — $–$$

These are the favors people actually keep and can feel more intentional than edible items. Plus, they photograph well in flat lays. They do, however, require a bit more planning. Especially if you’re customizing them.

  • Personalized koozies
  • Bottle openers
  • Mini candles
  • Seed packets (“Let love grow!”)

3. Late-Night or Next-Day Survival Kits — $$

I’m seeing more couples give something practical for the ride home or the morning after. These are fun, thoughtful, and often get used right away. Always a win!

  • Recovery kits with hydration packets
  • Mini snacks
  • Coffee vouchers
  • Lip balm or hand sanitizer

4. Experience-Based Favors — $$–$$$

This newer trend has completely won me over. Instead of sending guests home with an object, you send them home with a memory. These double as both entertainment and favors, and guests love interactive elements.

  • A DIY gourmet s’mores station
  • A custom perfume or cologne blending bar
  • A mini photo booth with printed strips they can take home

5. Live Artist Sketches or Caricatures — $$–$$$

Hiring a live sketch artist or caricature artist brings a bit of whimsical charm to your reception. Guests get to watch the art be created and leave with a personalized keepsake. It’s such a fun way to incorporate art and personality into your day.

6. A Show-Stopping Favor Your Guests Will Never Forget: On-Site Watercolor Portraits — $$$

Let’s end with one of the most unique and magical ideas I’ve seen in modern wedding guest favors: a live watercolor artist painting portraits of your guests on-site.

This favor checks every box:

✔ Entertainment

✔ Luxury

✔ Personalization

✔ A frame-worthy piece of art

Guests love watching the artist work, and the final painting becomes something they treasure long after the wedding. It’s an elevated alternative to caricatures—soft, romantic, and timeless (and honestly, it aligns beautifully with fine-art wedding aesthetics). Because it requires a skilled artist and time to create each portrait, this favor falls on the higher end of the budget scale, but it offers an unforgettable experience and a truly meaningful gift.

Whether you choose something classic or something completely unique, your wedding favors should feel like an extension of your personality as a couple. And remember, your guests don’t need something big or expensive to feel appreciated. Thoughtful always wins.

If you want more ideas or help choosing a favor that matches your wedding style, I’m always happy to brainstorm with you!
