There’s something so special about getting to photograph a family through every chapter of their story. I’ve had the absolute privilege of photographing Devin and Delaney through so many of their milestones. From their engagement session and wedding, to maternity and newborn photos for their first baby, Walker. So when I got the message that baby Mabry was on the way, my heart just about burst.
When Delaney and I first talked a few months back about scheduling maternity photos, their newborn session wasn’t even on the calendar yet. At that point, their new home was still under construction, and finishing before Mabry’s arrival felt like a long shot. In this housing market, it’s almost unheard of for deadlines to move earlier rather than later! But in the most beautiful surprise, everything came together ahead of schedule. Not only was their Fountain City home finished, but they even had time to complete Mabry’s nursery, which couldn’t have been more perfect.
When I pulled up to their property for the session, I felt like I’d discovered a hidden gem. Their home sits tucked deep in the woods, far enough back that you’d never even know it was there. Their driveway is its own road. As I wound my way back, the trees suddenly opened to reveal the most stunning view. My jaw dropped when I saw it! I told them right then and there that their next family session absolutely has to be outdoors at sunset with that golden light spilling over their beautiful property.
Mabry’s newborn session was full of sweetness, sleepy snuggles, amazing light, and a big brother who’s already smitten. Every time he popped in a photo, he had to kiss his little sister’s head. I’ll never get tired of documenting this family’s journey. Their warmth, kindness, and joy are contagious, even in the middle of newborn chaos and moving boxes.
