There are some families I get to grow alongside, and the Gray family is one of those that has become so special to me. Christine and Sean have been in front of my camera more times than I can count. Starting with their engagement session, then their wedding, and now through all the beautiful milestones of life with their daughter, Harper. Watching their story unfold through each season has been such an incredible privilege.
This Knoxville Botanical Garden family session felt like a full-circle moment. I’ve photographed Harper since she was a tiny newborn and every three months through her first year. At the end of that first year, I created a book for one of the grandparents with all of her milestone sessions, and seeing her growth from that tiny baby to a confident one-year-old brought me so much joy. Now, at around 18 months old, she’s full of curiosity and wonder.
During our session at Knoxville Botanical Garden, Harper was absolutely captivated by everything around her. She noticed every little detail, and on this particular day, planes flying overhead were especially fascinating. Every time one passed, she’d stop, point, and follow it with her eyes until it disappeared behind the trees. It was the sweetest thing! Her curiosity and focus make me think she’s going to be such a bright, observant little girl.
Christine and Sean make parenthood look so natural. They’re calm, patient, and so in tune with Harper’s little world. Every session with them feels like catching up with old friends, and it’s been such a joy documenting their growing family. I can’t wait to see what adventures come next for the Grays and to keep capturing all the love and laughter along the way.
