A Sequoyah Hills proposal story to take your breath away.
About 1.5 years ago, Alaina and David attended my AMP team Christmas dinner after a year where Alaina literally saved my booty filling in last minute multiple times. From associate shooting to last minute second shooting needs to literally dropping whatever she was doing to go shoot a bridal session for me when I was completely taken out by a terrible 3 day stomach bug. The girl has a heart of gold. Not to mention she is incredible at photography. At this dinner, toward the end, I brought everyone out to see my studio in our back yard. She was flipping through some of my sample albums and dropped in a little whisper to me that she had already told David that she wanted me to capture his proposal to her, whenever that may be. Not long after that conversation, David accepted a dream job in Florida. While some might have seen that as a relationship ender, for David and Alaina, it only made them stronger. There is a saying that if your relationship can withstand long distance, it can withstand anything. I can attest to this being true in my own personal relationship when Dustin and I did long distance for about 2 years after he graduated college. It is hard. Not only did they withstand it, they grew in spite of it.
About a month ago, Kendahl, Alaina’s sister, reached out to me to start planning David’s proposal to Alaina. David had this elaborate plan to surprise Alaina by sneaking into town and popping the question… but just how was he going to make sure she was dressed up and had her nails, hair, and makeup done without any suspicions? Enter Kendahl. Kendahl told Alaina that she wanted to give their mom the gift of some professional sister photos for mother’s day and that she had hired me to do it for them. I’m not sure if Alaina totally bought it, but once we arrived to Sequoyah Hills and I started the first 20 minutes of their session literally taking sister photos, she told me later that she had the thought this is actually a sister session. So weird. Little did she know that her man was about to walk up behind her and tap her on the shoulder. It was perfect and priceless and everything I could ever want for my dear dear friend Alaina.
Men – take note. David did it right. He had the location and the date and then he joined allies with Alaina’s sister to make sure the whole thing went off without a hitch. Genius. Kendahl – you totally killed it. We all need a sister like you in our lives to make sure it unfolds exactly how we’ve always dreamed it would. Alaina – you are so precious and your heart for the Lord is so beautiful. I’m absolutely honored to have gotten to photograph this sweet, intimate moment for you and your future hubby!
