Downtown Knoxville Proposal

Boy proposes to girl in front of the tennessee sign at this downtown Knoxville proposal by Amanda May Photos.

I am so excited to show you guys the photos from Ben and Cameron’s downtown Knoxville proposal because it is PERFECT! Ben knew that he wanted to propose to Cameron on Gay Street with the Tennessee sign in the background. They live in Atlanta and he reached out to Cameron’s boss to block off her calendar for the whole weekend. He booked me for some updated “couple’s portraits” where I met up with them in front of the old Knox County courthouse to start their session. Ben was so easy and so great to work with. Proposals can be hard. You don’t want it to be obvious that it’s a proposal happening so it can still be a surprise to the proposee which means that you have to have a plan going into it so everyone is on the same page. I wrote out a script for Ben and I so we would have some keywords that would be the signal to one another that this was the spot and the moment to make it all happen. Once I got them in the right spot, I was supposed to say “This is the PERFECT spot to have the TN sign in the background” and that was queue one. Ben gave me a little subtle nod as he heard these words leave my mouth. Then I did a couple of normal poses before I set them up for an interactive one. I put Cameron’s back to Ben and told Ben that he was supposed to have a funny dance move that when Cameron turned around, it would make her laugh so hard. I confirm that Ben has this dance move locked in and tell Cameron to turn around. As she’s turning, he drops to one knee and says “Will you marry me??” It could not have happened more smoothly. We were perfectly in the spot to get the TN sign in the background, people around us on Gay street started whistling and yelling congrats. And the best part of all, of course, was that Cameron said yes. The rest of their downtown Knoxville proposal session they were riding high on that sweet sweet moment and I couldn’t be more excited for them!
