There’s something so peaceful and romantic about a Whitestone Inn wedding—rolling hills, sweeping lake views, and timeless Southern charm. This past weekend, Katherine and James tied the knot at this stunning East Tennessee venue, and their day was every bit as elegant and joyful as the setting itself.
One of the most special aspects of their wedding was how everything seemed to align so perfectly—from the weather (which was pretty off and on rain) to the vendor team, and even down to how their lead photographer was chosen. Their day was photographed by an associate photographer for me and it was the incredibly talented Emily Elizabeth Portraits, alongside her assistant Jessica Malin of Malin Portraits. Both ladies are skilled in shooting film—a request that was especially meaningful to the bride. Film photography adds such a timeless, soft quality to wedding images, and while it takes a bit longer to get the scans back (Emily texted me yesterday to let me know it’ll be about two weeks), trust me—the prettiness is absolutely worth the wait.
What makes this story even sweeter is how it all began. Katherine’s mom, Liz, is the one who first reached out to me. Funny enough, I was riding in the car with Emily, heading to Atlanta for another wedding, when Liz called. Emily quietly listened in as I asked all the questions and learned about their vision. As soon as I hung up, I turned to Emily and said, “I think this might be your wedding.” And sure enough—it was. The Lord truly has a way of working out the details in ways we couldn’t plan ourselves.
Katherine and James, your wedding was a dream. We can’t wait to share more once those beautiful film scans are back!
