The Stone House at Silver Creek || Austin & Courtney

A Family Affair to Remember

Some weddings are beautiful, and some are meaningful. Then some are both in the deepest, most personal way. Austin & Courtney’s Stone House wedding was one of those.

Austin is Dustin’s cousin so this day was already a family celebration in every sense. And Courtney has been a part of our family gatherings for the last six years. She’s the one who’s hidden Easter eggs for my kids, played ping pong with them in the basement, and given thoughtful gifts to them at Christmas. We always knew this day would come, and when Austin finally proposed, the entire family felt the excitement. She may have felt like family for years, but now it’s official.

When Austin & Courtney asked me to photograph their wedding at The Stone House, I was incredibly honored. They also had a unique and thoughtful request. They wanted me to be their photographer and a guest. It meant the world to me. I traded my usual black wedding photographer dress for something a little more festive (shoutout to Devin for the shopping trip!), and I sat down next to my husband for dinner instead of immediately jumping back into candid coverage.

I let my second shooter take the lead on documenting reception candids while I stayed present and truly enjoyed the people around me. After a full hour on the dance floor with my camera, I set it down and joined everyone to dance the night away. And guess what? Looking through the photos later, nothing was missed. The night is beautifully, authentically preserved.

The weather perfectly worked out again. Overcast skies gave us the soft light we needed for portraits in my favorite spots. Rain didn’t hit until after the ceremony and portraits were done, and it conveniently cooled down the barn just in time for dinner. By the time guests were ready to step back outside, the skies had cleared again.

The Lord orchestrated this day so beautifully. From the timing of the weather to the joy that overflowed at every turn. Austin & Courtney’s Stone House wedding was more than a celebration. It was a reminder of love, legacy, and the deep joy of family.
