When I tell you that little Ruthie was on the move for her White Room 1 Year session, I mean she was truly ON. THE. MOVE. From the moment her parents, Mikia and Wes, set her down, she was ready to explore every corner. Sitting still was not her thing. Being held was also not her thing. Almost every single photo from her session is in action because that’s exactly who Ruthie is right now. Curious, determined, and full of life.
The only time she paused for more than a few seconds was when we placed her birthday cake in front of her. Even then, she gave us all a laugh when she tried to crawl away twice in the middle of “cake smash time.” That’s Ruthie in a nutshell. Constantly on the go, eager to see what’s next. Mikia and Wes have had their hands full ever since she started walking at just 10 months old, but you can tell they wouldn’t trade her energy for anything.
And honestly, all this movement? It’s not just busy toddler energy. It’s a sign of her personality shining through. Ruthie is curious about her world, ready to learn, explore, and grow. Those qualities that sometimes wear parents out in the moment will one day become her greatest strengths.
Of course, the fun is multiplied when her big sister Sonnie joins in. The bond between these two is undeniable. I can already tell they’re going to be partners in crime. Giggly, mischievous, and completely unstoppable. Watching them together gives just a glimpse of the adventures they’ll share as sisters, and I have a feeling their determination and independence will take them far.
Celebrating Ruthie’s first birthday at The White Room was such a joy. Sessions like this remind me how quickly these little ones grow, and how important it is to capture them exactly as they are. Wild, curious, joyful, and completely unforgettable.
