Emily and Matt had a summer wedding at The Quarry this past weekend, and my goodness, it was beautiful. There were so many favorite parts about this wedding. I’ve honestly had a hard time deciding which one I wanted to write about. I really loved the Love You More neon sign above a couch at the reception. Emily asked Morgan at The Quarry to custom order this because it was a phrase her grandparents said to each other and that her grandfather said to her as she was growing up. This is the same grandfather that literally had a smile on his face the entire day. I have so many candids of him because he was just a walking piece of joy floating around the entire day and I couldn’t get enough. Also, he videoed the entire day on his phone. Emily and Matt had a videographer but every time something special was happening, her sweet granddad was recording it on his phone for him to go back and look at later. It was precious. This same grandfather shared a special dance with Emily after the formal parent dances and as he approached the dance floor he whispered to Emily, “oh honey. I don’t know how to dance.” Then, he literally whisked her onto the dance floor with twirls and slides and all the moves. Later in the evening I asked him and his wife to go to the photobooth sign to take a photo under the “love you more” sign. They both agreed happily and started making their way across the dance floor and back to the couch. We took one smiling and then I asked them if they felt comfortable kissing. Her grandfather beamed that huge smile and said, “well, of course!” Then, he leaned in and kissed her grandmother with hands on her cheeks, and I just cannot get enough of these two.
How wonderful and how beautiful it is to have grandparents still in love like this. But they not only have one set, but three sets that are such incredible role models as Emily and Matt begin this journey of marriage. I am so thrilled to have been a part of their day. They are one of those couples that you look at and just know they are going to make it to forever. It’s the way they look at each other but even more than that, the way they respect one another enough to put God first in their marriage. They know what the priority needs to be in order to have a healthy marriage and not only did they make that ever so clear throughout their wedding day but also that it has been that way throughout their whole relationship.
I am so proud of them and so honored to have been a witness to this day. It was stunning, both on the surface and in the deepest parts. Congrats to Emily and Matt. I cannot wait to see where marriage leads you in the coming years!
