UT Gardens After Session || Knoxville, TN || Anastasia & Ellis

As Anastasia and Ellis planned their wedding, they were slammed with school stuff, work stuff, and research stuff on top of wedding planning. Their schedule was as busy as mine, and when we looked at scheduling their engagement session, it was just too much. Instead of forcing it, they went a nontraditional route and chose an after session.

An after session is when they get back into their wedding attire after their wedding day and do some portraits with me at an agreed upon location. I’ve had a handful of these over my career, and as little as they happen, I still love doing them. It’s fun to get a bride back into her dress and not have a timeline to worry about. Also, choosing a dreamy spot at sunset is a massive perk because we are limited on the wedding day. We would have never been able to come to UT Gardens on Anastasia and Ellis’s wedding day, but that’s where we spent the whole evening for their after session. I wouldn’t necessarily recommend replacing your engagement session with an after session because I still find it super valuable to work with your wedding photographer before the wedding day. If you aren’t interested in a bridal session, however, an after session is a great option to wear your wedding dress again! In Anastasia’s case, she had two wedding dresses on her wedding day and three pairs of shoes. We took photos in both dresses on her wedding day, but the second dress didn’t get as many photos until we did their after session. We got a whole session in it with her adorable blue heals.

I so loved my time with Anastasia and Ellis. They are Greek and Greek Orthodox, and I so enjoyed learning more about their culture.
