A Summer Castleton Wedding in the Middle of June

I’ve typed and retyped the first sentence of this blog post at least five times because how do you even begin to put into words a day like this? Kristin & Bryce’s summer Castleton wedding was so full of life, joy, purpose, and peace that it’s hard to know where to start. But if I had to choose one word to describe it all? Abundance. Abundantly overflowing with love, with joy, with the presence of the Lord.

From the very beginning of the day, it was crystal clear that Kristin and Bryce share not only a deep love for one another but also a deep love for Jesus. They welcomed His presence into every moment, and it was absolutely beautiful to witness. Their ceremony, held in the heat of the summer sun, was incredibly meaningful—and I loved that they had their wedding party sit in reserved seats rather than stand up the whole time. A thoughtful and compassionate gesture that allowed their friends to fully soak in the moment (and not pass out because it was super duper hot and sunny!).

The joy on Kristin and Bryce’s faces all day long was pure delight. I have so many candids of them just beaming, absolutely glowing, because they truly could not contain their happiness. That’s the kind of love that’s a gift to photograph.

A few personal highlights? Kristin’s second dress paired with a cowgirl hat and a surprise grand entrance during the reception—iconic. I also tried something new: handing a disposable camera to the bridesmaids to capture their own perspective throughout the day. It was a hit! Next time, I’m giving one to the groomsmen too.

And now—can I talk about this family for a second? Kristin is the fourth bride I’ve had the honor of photographing from this incredible family, and it all began with my high school math teacher. Her daughter became my college roommate, and I photographed her Charleston wedding. That’s where I met the Disney family—and since then, I’ve captured both Disney daughters’ weddings, and now their cousin Kristin’s. The first Disney sister’s children were flower girls and ring bearers in this very wedding, and the second Disney sister is pregnant with her first, and I’ll be photographing her maternity session next month.

This family is kind, generous, welcoming, and full of light. Kristin and Bryce are no different. They radiate warmth in a way that can only come from the Lord’s love living within them. The kindness, the joy, the encouragement, the gratitude. It’s all the fruit of something deeper, and it made for a wedding day that I’ll never forget.
