Great Smoky Mountain National Park Engagement Photos
When I arrived for Holly & Justin’s engagement session in Cosby, Tennessee, I was met with a striking contrast. Fresh blacktop paving a road that just months earlier had been devastatingly washed away by Hurricane Helene. The road we started on had only just reopened in April, and construction crews were still hard at work installing new drainage systems and reinforcing areas that had collapsed. It felt surreal to be photographing such a joyful, hope-filled milestone in a place still bearing the scars of a natural disaster. But despite all the heartbreak these communities have endured, there was something undeniably beautiful about creating art and memories here.
Holly & Justin brought the sunshine from Florida with them. We explored the Cosby campground area, followed winding roads, and pulled off wherever the light and scenery called to us. They were all in from the start, trusting me completely to lead the way and roll with the unexpected. I had picked out a few new spots on my way into the area, and we all laughed when we had to immediately turn around at one of them. I clearly missed the No Trespassing sign during my initial scouting. That detour led us to an even better location though. Their easy laughter and genuine connection made the session an absolute joy.
These two are planning a March 2026 wedding at The Trillium (one of my favorite venues!), and I already know it’s going to be incredible.
