Some weddings feel like the culmination of a full-circle journey, and Kendahl & Clayton’s wedding at Castleton Farms was exactly that. As one of the lead wedding coordinators at Castleton, Kendahl has spent years helping other couples celebrate the most meaningful day of their lives. She’s built timelines, bustled gowns, calmed nerves, and celebrated countless love stories right here on these very grounds. But this time, it was her turn.
It was surreal to see Kendahl walk through her wedding day—not clipboard in hand, but bouquet. And while she kept saying how strange it felt to be “at work,” her joy was radiant, and her heart stayed the same. I lost count of how many times she checked in on staff, complimented others, and spread kindness throughout the day. On her fourth compliment about my new haircut, I had to laugh. “Kendahl,” I said, “even when you’re the bride, you still find a way to make someone else feel good.” That’s who she is. Always thoughtful, always gracious, always present.
I’ve worked alongside Kendahl for years. We’ve watched radar screens hoping rain would hold off, buttoned dresses, adjusted veils, shared quick dinners and lots of laughs (and sweat) on wedding days. I even saw her be the ultimate Maid of Honor—twice—just last year for both her best friend and her sister. Amidst a season of being a maid of honor, Clayton proposed, and she suddenly became a fiancée.
Now, it was their turn. And what a day it was.
Being chosen to capture Kendahl & Clayton’s wedding meant the world to me—especially knowing how many photographers Kendahl has worked with. I don’t take that honor lightly. Their love, their joy, their ease with each other was a photographer’s dream.
Now they’re off to South Carolina, where Clayton is pursuing his dream of coaching football at Coastal Carolina. As bittersweet as it is to see them leave, I couldn’t be more excited for what’s ahead. Kendahl & Clayton, are already living their best life, and I’ll be cheering them on every step of the way.
