Spring Downtown Knoxville Engagement || Mariah & Shane

From babysitting days to “I do” — a full-circle love story in the heart of Knoxville

This Spring Downtown Knoxville engagement session was a full circle moment with Mariah and Shane. You guys, I used to babysit this bride. Mariah was best friends with my little sister growing up, and because our families were so connected, I spent so many days watching over them while they played. Fast forward to now, and she’s thriving in her career, raising the sweetest little girl, and stepping into this new season of becoming a wife. It truly doesn’t feel real in the best way.

When Mariah reached out about photographing her wedding, there wasn’t even a question in my mind that I had to be the one there. Being trusted to document such an important day for someone you’ve known since childhood is something I don’t take lightly. Even though we hadn’t seen each other in years, it felt so natural reconnecting during their Spring Downtown Knoxville engagement session.

And getting to meet Shane in person for the first time, I instantly understood everything. The way he looks at Mariah, the way he talks about their life together, the steady, intentional love he has for her. It’s everything you hope for when you’ve watched someone grow up. It gave me that “big sister” feeling all over again just knowing she’s so deeply loved and cared for.

We spent the evening wandering through Downtown Knoxville and stopped at some of my favorite spots to just let them be themselves together. A Spring Downtown Knoxville engagement always has such a fun mix of textures. Classic city streets, warm brick tones, and little pockets of light that create the dreamiest backdrops.

And while these photos might feel warm and effortless, let me just tell you, it was chilly. But you would never know it from the way they showed up. They leaned into every moment, stayed close, laughed through it, and trusted the process completely.

Mariah and Shane, I am so incredibly happy for you both. Getting to be a small part of your story—then and now—means more to me than you know. I cannot wait for your wedding day.
