Snowy Castleton Engagement Session

I saw a meme the other day that said March consists of winter, spring, frigid weather freezing all the pretty blooms that got tricked into starting, the most perfect 70 degree weather, one more winter, and then blazing hot summer. At the time, we were in our first little bout of spring with perfect weather for a whole week (of which our household was stricken with the stupid stomach bug and couldn’t fully enjoy the amazing weather), and I laughed at this meme. and then. THEN, we ended the week on a Friday with 60 degree weather, feeling a little better, playing outside, going on walks, and swooning at all the pretty blooms. THEN, we woke up to 6 inches of snow on our back deck. wut. I found myself not laughing at the meme. That stupid meme was right 😂 After I got over the initial blow, we put on our snow bibs and went to work doing all the snow things. Sledding, snow angel making, snowball fights, snowman making, snow cream eating. All the things, and it was wonderful.

Later that day, I had a session scheduled with Kayla and Wesley. We planned to be all the way out at Castleton, and as the morning unfolded, it became clear we wouldn’t have any problem driving out there for a snowy Castleton engagement session! Dreams, you guys. Straight dreams. I love shooting in the snow. The pure white creates the most neutral reflection. Skin tones are flawless, colors pop, and I have the best reflector to fill all the shadows that could happen on clients’ faces. It rarely works out where I shoot in the snow. Much less a snowy Castleton engagement session with all the beauty that is Castleton overlaid with a blanket of snow. I had so much fun doing it. Even though all of our toes froze by the end, I think it was totally worth it!
