Kara and Stephen’s Nichols Heir Associate Wedding was one of those days that felt charmed from beginning to end. Photographed beautifully by the Amanda May Photos associate team, AC Goodman and Emily Elizabeth, their celebration was full of laughter, bold fall color, and the kind of genuine joy that makes you forget you’re “supposed” to pose for photos at all.
And speaking of posing, Kara and Stephen insisted from the start that they were “awkward” in front of the camera. But little did they know, their version of “awkward” is actually photographer gold. Every time they felt a little nervous, they would look at each other and break into these soft, sweet giggles. Those little moments—those real, unprompted smiles—created some of the best candid portraits of the entire day. They were effortlessly photogenic simply because they were so authentically themselves.
Because the garden at Nichols Heir was occupied by another wedding during sunset, the team explored new locations with the couple, and it was such a gift in disguise. We love any chance to flex our creative muscles, and Kara and Stephen were totally down for anything. Trusting couples make magic possible, and these two were all-in. The warm light, unexpected backdrops, and their easy connection made those portraits some of our favorites.
And let’s talk about that color palette. DROP. DEAD. FALL. GORGEOUSNESS. Rich, moody tones everywhere with deep burgundies, warm rusts, golden accents that caught the light just right. Their florist, Rainbow Roots Floral, absolutely crushed the vision. Every space, from the ceremony aisle to the reception tables, felt like walking into fall perfection.
Then, there was Cruze Farm at the reception. Truly, need I say more? Kara and Stephen even went to Cruze for their engagement session, and during their private vows, they mentioned getting ice cream together “in good times and in bad.” Having it at the wedding was the sweetest full-circle moment.
And the biggest surprise of the day was when Stephen revealed a custom suit lined with his and Kara’s favorite photos together. Kara’s reaction was priceless.
Kara and Stephen’s Nichols Heir wedding was warm, colorful, heartfelt, and overflowing with personality. Thank you to this amazing couple for trusting us with capturing one of the very best days of their lives!
