Hunter Valley Farm || Olivia Rose 1 Year

A Hunter Valley 1 Year Session with a Sandy Beach that was the Star of the Show!

One of the sweetest parts of my job is getting to watch little ones grow up right in front of my camera, and Olivia Rose is the perfect example of that. I’ve photographed her every three months since she was born, and each session has been such a gift. She’s full of personality, joy, and curiosity, and her Hunter Valley 1 year session was one of my favorites yet.

Like most toddlers, Olivia decided to keep us on our toes. At the start of the session, she only wanted to be with mommy. Daddy was not allowed in her bubble, and she made sure we all knew it! This is where the art of family photography comes in—patience, flexibility, and creativity. We pivoted, let her settle in, and then discovered the magic solution: sand.

Now, I know what you’re thinking. Sand and toddlers? Yikes. It gets everywhere. Shoes, socks, clothes, you name it. But here’s the great thing about Hunter Valley Farm: the sand there isn’t like beach sand. Without the humidity and salty water, it doesn’t stick. It dusts right off, which makes it a dream when working with curious little ones.

Once Olivia discovered the sand, everything changed. She giggled, played, and even let daddy join her in the fun. By the end, she was snuggled up in daddy’s arms, all smiles. It was the sweetest reminder that toddlers may test us, but with a little patience and a lot of love, their joy always shines through.

The Whitaker family has trusted me to capture every season of Olivia’s first year, and I couldn’t be more grateful. Watching her grow has been such a blessing, and I know these photos will be treasures for years to come.
