Proposals always take pretty significant planning ahead and often times require me to be in disguise. Every single time as I wait for the moment to unfold, my heart races and my nerves are heightened, and Zach’s Coffee Shop Proposal to Jennifer at Coffee & Chocolate was no different!
About a month before popping the question, Zach reached out to me to photograph the big moment. Like I always do with proposing boyfriends, we hopped on a call to walk through his plan. He told me Jennifer’s three closest friends would be taking her on a girls’ day around Downtown Knoxville, while he waited at The Oliver Hotel for the green light. The proposal itself would happen at Coffee & Chocolate, a cozy little spot that’s perfect for something romantic and sweet.
On the day of, I arrived early, grabbed a coffee, and tucked myself away with a book to blend in. Each time someone walked past the window, I wondered if it was them. Finally, a group of four walked in—and to my surprise, one of Jennifer’s friends was actually one of my past brides! We gave each other a quick, subtle “oh my gosh” look before pretending not to know one another.
The girls ordered coffee and chocolates, but when Jennifer led them back outside sooner than expected, Zach was still waiting around the corner! I quickly tucked away my book and camera and followed them out just in case the proposal happened outside. Thankfully, her friends managed to loop her back inside, giving Zach the perfect moment to walk in and surprise her.
The second Jennifer saw him, her whole face lit up. What followed was the sweetest coffee shop Proposal filled with happy tears, laughter, and of course her saying “yes!” Scroll below to see the rest of this joyful moment. The photos truly tell the story best.
