I first met Melissa a few years ago when I photographed her as she graduated nursing school. At that session, she mentioned she had a boyfriend she had been dating for awhile, and they hoped to get married soon. Then, the pandemic hit. Melissa is a nurse, and Brooker is in the restaurant industry. So, there was a massive shift in their lives, and it’s understandable why the plan was pushed off a bit. After things settled, they planned a courthouse elopement that was just really simple and sweet.
You never know what you’re going to get at the courthouse. It may be a charismatic man that goes through all the questions and options and things before he starts the ceremony. You may get the opposite. A quiet, tiny woman who is very quick and straight to the point. In all my years of photographing different courthouse elopements though, I’ve never had one start early. But it did for Melissa and Brooker. My time was to start at 3:30pm, and we walked out of the courthouse at 3:33pm. This just meant we had more time for portraits around Knoxville, which may or may not have been amazing for Melissa’s feet in those stilettos. They were gorgeous though and made for some really stunning portraits.
Congratulations, Melissa and Brooker. I’m so excited for you guys, and I hope the first couple weeks of marriage have been nothing but amazing!
