Knoxville Botanical Garden Maternity Session || The Lucheon Family

A Garden Maternity Session with an Adventurous Toddler

There are certain families I get to photograph over and over again that truly feel like a gift, and the Lucheon family is one of them. I had the honor of capturing Mary Beth and Josh’s engagement session and wedding day. Now, I’ve had the joy of photographing their growing family for a garden maternity session at Knoxville Botanical Garden.

Their wedding is one I’ll never forget. Not just because it was a beautiful day, but because of the way Mary Beth and Josh approached it. They weren’t focused on perfection or worrying about the little things. Instead, they leaned fully into joy and into what really mattered: celebrating the start of their marriage together. That same mindset has carried into their life since then, and it’s been such a privilege to watch.

Mary Beth’s journey has been pretty inspiring and watching Josh support her in all the ways is exactly what makes them such a power team. They planned their wedding while Mary Beth was in medical school. They welcomed their first baby also while being in medical school. Now, she’s officially practicing medicine as an incredible OB. All while chasing an adventurous toddler and walking through a not-so-easy second pregnancy. Through it all, she and Josh continue to radiate joy. They make the hard things look effortless and have such a beautiful way of appreciating life’s smallest moments.

For this garden maternity session, we scheduled it carefully around Evie’s bedtime. Mary Beth warned me that their sweet girl is full of energy and always on the go. So, I came prepared with all my toddler-photo tricks. Some worked, some didn’t, but that’s the beauty of photographing real family life. Thanks to Josh’s playful spirit and the way he knows exactly how to get Evie laughing, we captured some of the sweetest and most authentic moments.

Knoxville Botanical Garden gave us the perfect backdrop with lush greenery, stone pathways, and golden light filtering through the trees. It felt like the perfect place to celebrate not just a growing family, but also the joy and resilience that define the Lucheons.
