A Vogue-Inspired Wedding at Sacred Heart & The Press Room

Last weekend, I photographed a Vogue-inspired wedding at Sacred Heart Cathedral and The Press Room. Let me tell you, it was STUNNING! We kicked it off with the couple and their wedding party getting ready downtown at The Hyatt. Their rooms are so pretty and have great natural light. They have tall arched windows that are just to die for. Natalia told me early on that she wanted a more vogue-inspired aesthetic to her images, and The Hyatt lent itself to that style so easily. I took the girls to the rooftop bar to take some photos, and I took the guys to the lobby. One of my all time favorite groomsmen photos was in the lobby of The Hyatt right outside the elevators at the top of the stairs. Trust me, you’ll know it when you see it.

Natalia and John did not do a first look so after the wedding party and I arrived at Sacred Heart, Natalia pulled up in a vintage Rolls Royce. So, I took some bridal portraits in front of the car and walking up the stairs to enter Sacred Heart. These are some of my favorites of Natalia for the day. Talk about Vogue-inspired. This was it. The cathedral length veil, the beautiful train, her facial expression, and the simple backdrop of the neutral colored church. Drooling. I was and still am drooling.

I hope you can see the Vogue-inspired vibe Natalia was going for in these images. Before I let you go scrolling and looking for yourself, there’s one more thing I have to point out. Natalia and John knew their guests would support a really hyped dance floor. They did all the right things. They turned down the lights, had an awesome live band, lots of alcohol, and a 3 hour dance floor. That is a LONG time for a dance floor. Most weddings have 30-60 minutes of open dance floor. Just to make sure their guests didn’t get too tired of dancing, halfway through dance party time, they did something called a “crazy hour.” This crazy hour was with a DJ who played crunk, loud music. They had fire-breathers. There were special entertainment dancers. They passed out glow sticks and glow glasses and feather masks and even put the bride and groom in a big headdress and crown. Just as guests may have thought they were going to take a break from the dance floor, it got even more lit. It was seriously one of the coolest parts of the day. Watching a hype party take it up another level I didn’t even know it had. If you want a crazy dance party, this is the way to do it!
