Vietnamese Castleton Farms Wedding || Jenny & Trent

A Fall Vietnamese Castleton Farms Wedding

There are two pieces of this Vietnamese Castleton Farms wedding you may not have seen before. One is the Vietnamese tea ceremony, and the other is the lion dance. The tea ceremony for Jenny and Trent’s day was the day before their wedding. It was a beautiful Vietnamese ceremony where Jenny and Trent became married in the Vietnamese community. Surrounded by their families, they exchanged gifts, spoke words of gratitude, and shared a meal. It’s a beautiful moment. I have photographed two other Vietnamese tea ceremonies in my career, and they were both spoken solely in Vietnamese. This was the first one where most of it was spoked in English, and I now have a better understanding of what was unfolding. It was so special. I’m so thankful to Jenny’s parents who invited me into their home to document this for them.

The other thing is the lion dance. This was a part of their Vietnamese Castleton Farms wedding on Saturday at the reception. Lion dancers wear lion costumes and dance around the reception. I’ve seen this tradition two times now, and while they had overlapping similarities, the dances themselves were very different from one another. It was so cool to see how a different group did it. The way these dancers move in these lion costumes is so mesmerizing. You’ll see several photos below where they followed Jenny and Trent into the reception, and then again when they did a performance in the middle of the dance floor.

It also rained at this Vietnamese Castleton Farms wedding. Originally, it was supposed to rain on Sunday. Then, it was only supposed to rain Saturday night. Well, it rained right at portrait time on Saturday and rained all the way to the ceremony. It was light rain that whole time, and when there was a break, Jenny and Trent left the cover of the porch to get some portraits. Don’t get me wrong, it hadn’t stopped raining completely, but they opted to go out anyway. I am SO thankful for this because we ended up having to switch the cocktail hour and the ceremony, which meant there was basically no time for portraits after the ceremony. Even with all the rearranging, we were still on schedule at the reception. Huge shout out to Danyelle with Castleton because her maneuvering enabled us to roll into reception formalities on time!

I am so excited to share this gorgeous Vietnamese Castleton Farms wedding with you! Thank you, Jenny and Trent, for being so awesome!
