I have been shooting at UT Gardens a lot recently, mostly because it is just so gorgeous. It offers so many beautiful backdrops and when I ask my clients if they have a location in mind, they just keep saying they want to do UT Gardens… so that’s where we keep going 😁! Paige & Peter drove in from Pittsburg for their UT Gardens engagement session with their pups. You guys, these dogs were so stinking sweet and did SO good! If I didn’t know any better, I would think they had been trained using a camera because they just kept posing over and over again.
I so enjoyed getting to know Paige & Peter more. Because they brought their pups with them down from Pittsburg, Paige’s parents also joined us at their engagement session so they could dog sit the pups while we weren’t using them. It worked out perfectly to have them in a few photos then do some without, move locations and have them again, then do some without. When Paige & Peter changed outfits, Paige was wearing the same sneakers that her mom was wearing but they were a little more dirty. If she hadn’t stood right next to her mom’s shiny new white ones, I would have never noticed, but by comparison, Paige’s definitely had a more worn look. When I came up from photographing her ring, her mom was switching shoes with her. What a thoughtful act right there… I said “oh how convenient, you guys wear the same shoe size” and her mom said, “almost, just half a size different”. So one of them had their toes all squished while the other one’s heal was slipping for the remainder of our session.
I recently had a conversation with my own mom about still needing her to get my eye makeup remover for me. I know that sounds weird and like a total divergence from the topic but hear me out. I laughed as I texted her and said “your 33 year old daughter still fully relies on you for her eye makeup remover… isn’t that embarrassing” and she text me back and said “nah, I kind of like that you still need me for something”. It reminded me of this moment between Paige and her mom.
While this text really has nothing to do with Paige & Peter’s gorgeous UT Gardens engagement session, and it’s not mother’s day anymore, I just want to give a little shoutout to all the moms out there still filling in when their kiddos need them… even in the most unexpected ways like giving them the shoes off your feet for their engagement photos 😉.
