A Wedding at The Loyston || Suzi & Brock

My First Wedding at The Loyston

When this venue was first built, the venue manager reached out to see if I wanted to be the lead photographer on their preferred list. It didn’t take me long to answer that with a big fat yes. All I had to do was go to their site to see the gorgeousness that is The Loyston, and I knew I wanted to shoot weddings there. They went on to ask me to be a part of their grand opening event, first open house, and a styled shoot. After participating in all three, I finally booked my first wedding there, and it was Suzi and Brock’s.

The views, the clean landscape, the gorgeous couple, and all the joy in the room made this day absolutely perfect. We even had a visit from a special guest at the end of the first dance. Smokey, the mascot from The University of Tennessee, joined the couple at the end of their first dance with all the hype. Afterward, I learned the bride used to be the Smokey mascot. It surprised me so much because of how introverted and tiny she is. Smokey is not only a giant costume but also a really loud personality. I never saw it coming, and I think that is the beauty of the fact that she used to wear this costume proudly throughout her four years at UT.

On another note, I also have to talk about the Zoo Knoxville family. This is the second wedding I’ve done with one of the zoo’s team members, and I’m starting to feel like I’m part of the family. I absolutely adore this group of people. They are not only so good at what they do, but they are so kind and so fun. In addition to Suzi, Britney Dunn is the other AMP bride that works at the zoo, and I told both of them at the end of the day that if I ever decided to leave photography, the zoo would be the first place I would put in an application for. They are so much more than just coworkers. They are family, and a work environment like that makes work so so so much more fun!

If you didn’t see my styled shoot from The Loyston, this may be your first viewing of this beautiful venue, and if that’s the case, be ready to lose your breath. It is stunning.
