While my team was back in Knoxville shooting a wedding at Marblegate Farm, I headed west to Nashville to shoot an incredible wedding at the Page Road Estate. When I pulled in the driveway, my jaw dropped. I mean, I saw pictures of it, but there’s nothing to prepare you for what it’s like in real life. When I opened the front door, my jaw not only dropped, but it hung out down there on the floor for about 3 minutes because holy freaking moly, you guys. This place is INSANE.
Page Road Estate is not marketed as a wedding venue in Nashville because technically, it’s not. It’s a home. It’s a home to a family that loves having other people in their home and opens it up for events when they want to. A couple months before Mae and Casey’s wedding, their original venue called and told them they couldn’t have their wedding there unless they significantly reduced their guest count. At this point in the planning process, Mae and Casey were NOT changing their wedding anymore. They had postponed, tweaked, eloped, and FINALLY settled on a date, a size, and a plan that felt right and they were excited about. Now, just a couple months before the whole thing goes down, they have to change it again??? No way. So, they changed locations, and what a fabulous location to move to.
Many of you are probably thinking how in the WORLD did they move venues just a couple months before their wedding date?! But lemme tell you, Mae’s sister, Kristen, is a beast event planner, and she dominated this change. Honestly. I was blown away. She’s also a photographer and hilarious speech giver. Nonetheless, she made the change, and she did it well. Even though I know it wasn’t, she made it look effortless.
I loved their day so much. It was beautiful and filled with so much love and emotion and gratitude. I think they were just happy to finally have their wedding. They were so thrilled to see all their people in one place and be gathered together to celebrate. They owned the dance floor pretty much the whole evening, and they hired a band that rocked it out. All of that aside, one of my favorite moments of the evening was the speeches. Mae’s mom, sister, and Casey’s brother all gave toasts, and they were all so so so good. Mae’s mom, Kate, gave one of the best Mother of the Bride speeches I’ve literally ever heard. She started it off talking about a questionnaire Mae filled out about Kate when she was 4 years old. Simple questions with hilarious 4 year old answers, and I’m not joking when I tell you that when I got home I asked those same questions to Grayson about Dustin. It’s so fun to hear their answers. But it was so stinking good. I know the audio for John Myers’s video team is going to be incredible because of those great speeches.
Enough talking. I need you to see this day. It is beautiful.
