I realized as we crossed the state borders into Alabama that I have actually never been to Alabama. The sign says “Welcome to Sweet Home Alabama,” and I for sure would have remembered it says something cuter than all the other state borders. We were headed to a little town outside of Birmingham called Wilsonville where we would have the most beautiful fall Oak Island Mansion wedding ever.
The next morning, we rolled up the driveway lined with giant, orange oak trees and a beautiful, giant mansion at the end. My jaw dropped as I took in the columns, wraparound porches, and heavy fog. I could see just enough to leave me speechless. “I can’t believe I’m getting to shoot here!!!!” is all that kept running through my mind.
Andrea, my second shooter, and I found a great spot to set up details and went to work right away. Amidst the detail photos, you’ll see a Bible with a hummingbird on the front of it. It has long swirly lines and was absolutely beautiful. You’ll also see birds as their table names at the reception because Jordan loves birds. He loves birds so much that just by hearing one chirp he can tell you exactly what type it is. He knows all types of birds, too. During their sunset pictures, he spotted a domestic mallard, and when Hope said it didn’t look like a mallard, he went into the difference between a domestic mallard and a regular mallard and why this one was the domestic. I stood there listening to him like…wow. How in the world does he know so much about birds? So impressive. As much as Jordan loves birds is how much Hope loves horses. So, you’ll also see her two horses Toby and George make an appearance after the ceremony. They had flower crowns around their necks, and it was truly so so magical.
I can’t thank Hope and Jordan enough for hiring me to photograph their wedding day. It truly was stunning. The weather was perfect, and the color on the trees was insanely gorgeous. Cheers to Hope and Jordan. I can’t wait to see where God takes you!
