Nichols Heir Spring Wedding || Lacy & Drew

Spring weddings in East Tennessee can either have the most perfect, beautiful weather or wild, crazy weather. The week leading up to Lacy and Drew’s wedding was picture-perfect. 70 degrees, sunny, and absolutely beautiful. As any East Tennessean knows, spring weather can change in an instant though. So, the forecast for their Saturday wedding fluctuated all week long. At one point predicting thunderstorms all day, then switching to clear skies, then shifting to sporadic pop-up storms. For any couple planning an outdoor wedding, this kind of uncertainty can be nerve-wracking. Major weather-related decisions, like securing a tent or adjusting the timeline, often need to be made 2-3 days in advance, which can be stressful. Thankfully, Nichols Heir provided the most incredible solution to ensure Lacy and Drew had a seamless and beautiful day.

Because there were no other weddings on the property that day, Nichols Heir graciously offered to move the reception to the Grand Hall and relocate the ceremony to The Glass House. If you haven’t seen The Glass House, it’s exactly as magical as it sounds. A stunning structure made entirely of glass, allowing couples to feel like they’re surrounded by nature without worrying about the elements. This last-minute shift turned out to be the best decision. As the day unfolded, the rain miraculously stopped around 11:00am and didn’t return until after Lacy and Drew’s send-off. Even the sun made an appearance during their portraits, which created a dreamy, glowing backdrop for their photos.

Mother Nature wasn’t quite done throwing surprises our way though! While the rain held off, the wind was another story. Powerful gusts came out of nowhere throughout the day and added a bit of unexpected excitement. In one unforgettable moment, a strong gust swept Lacy’s veil right out of her hair and sent it soaring to the very top of a towering 300-foot tree! Rather than letting the moment derail the day, Lacy and her wedding party burst into laughter, embracing the spontaneity of the moment. It was a reminder that no matter how much planning goes into a wedding, sometimes the unexpected creates the most memorable stories. Looking back, choosing to move the ceremony inside wasn’t just a good call for potential rain because it also provided much-needed shelter from the wild winds!

Lacy and Drew’s Nichols Heir spring wedding was nothing short of magical. From the thoughtful venue accommodations to the unexpected weather twists, their day was a perfect reflection of love, joy, and rolling with whatever comes your way. For couples planning a spring wedding in East Tennessee, this day was a testament to the importance of flexibility and choosing a venue with great backup options. No matter what Mother Nature has in store, your wedding day will be perfect when surrounded by the right people, the right place, and the right mindset—just like Lacy and Drew’s unforgettable celebration at Nichols Heir.
