Mead’s Quarry Anniversary Session || Macon & Carter

One Full Year of Marriage with Macon & Carter

There is something really meaningful about getting to photograph a couple after the wedding day has already come and gone. Weddings move fast. They’re emotional and exciting and beautiful, but anniversary sessions feel different in the best way. The pressure is gone, and the timeline is gone. So what’s left is just the two people who chose each other settling into real life together. This Mead’s Quarry anniversary session for Macon and Carter was exactly that.

Macon and Carter got married one year ago, and their wedding day was a little unique for me. They booked me after I had already committed to photographing another couple’s rehearsal dinner later that evening. I photographed as much of their wedding day as I possibly could before one of my associate photographers stepped in to finish documenting the rest of the celebration. Even though I wasn’t there for every single moment, I still left that wedding feeling so connected to them. They are the kind of couple that naturally pulls people in with the way they care for each other.

So, when Carter reached out about scheduling photos right around their one year anniversary, I was immediately excited.

She shared that there was a woman in her life who had anniversary portraits taken every single year with her husband and displayed them throughout their home. Carter loved the idea of building something tangible that showed each passing season of marriage, and she wanted to start that same tradition with Macon. I thought that was such a beautiful idea. And maybe even sweeter was that Macon was fully on board without hesitation.

It’s honestly not super common for me to hear a husband enthusiastically commit to annual photo sessions, but with Macon, it felt effortless. You can tell how deeply he loves Carter just by the way he looks at her and the quiet way he shows up for her.

For year one, we celebrated with a Mead’s Quarry anniversary session, and it could not have fit them more perfectly. Between the tall summer grass, the soft evening light, Macon’s cowboy hat from Australia, and Carter’s radiant smile, every part of the session felt relaxed and true to who they are. And ending the evening with their two dogs running around beside them felt like the perfect snapshot of this season of life they’re building together.
