Knoxville Botanical Engagement Session || Madison & Will

A Full Circle Engagement Session at Knoxville Botanical Garden

Madison and Will’s engagement session was supposed to happen at Maple Grove. After their first date got completely rained out, however, we pivoted to another option that worked with everyone’s schedules. We ended up at Knoxville Botanical Garden, and honestly, it could not have worked out more perfectly for them.

What made this location even more meaningful is that Madison and Will actually took their prom photos here years ago. At the very end of their engagement session, we recreated one of those prom photos, and I absolutely love that they’ll now have both memories tied to the same place. There’s something really special about revisiting a location years later in such a different season of life. Seeing them side-by-side was the sweetest moment.

If you’ve followed my work for any amount of time, you probably know I photograph at Knoxville Botanical pretty often. One thing I challenge myself to do every single time I’m there is create a gallery that feels unique to each couple. I never want sessions to feel repetitive just because they happen at the same location. I’m constantly looking for different pockets of light, hidden pathways, interesting textures, or areas I may have overlooked before.

For Madison and Will’s session, I found an entirely new area of the gardens that I had never photographed in before, and I immediately became obsessed with it. The light filtering through the trees paired so perfectly with the relaxed, playful energy they brought to the session. I loved that they trusted me enough to wander off the usual paths and try something a little different from what they may have seen on previous blogs.

Of course, we still ended the evening in the classic garden spaces that make Knoxville Botanical engagement sessions so timeless and romantic. Between the blooms, the greenery, and the soft evening light, every part of the session felt effortless.

And we absolutely cannot forget their adorable little dog. He completely stole the show a few times and was such a little ham for the camera. I’m always a fan of including dogs in engagement sessions, and he made the entire evening even more fun.

Madison and Will are so easy to photograph because they genuinely enjoy being together. Every laugh, every smile, and every quiet little moment between them felt natural, and that always makes for the best kind of gallery. I already know their wedding day is going to be such a good one.
