Leading up to Maya and Ty’s wedding day, the forecast was not great. It was supposed to rain all day. I swear, every time I have a rainy wedding day, it just so happens to be at The Pavilion at Hunter Valley Farm. I’m not complaining because they have lots of covered areas to shoot under and still have natural light, but it does always seem to be this way! When Sunday finally got here, however, the whole weather system pushed to Monday so we actually had gorgeous weather their whole day! Even when we were racing the rain for sunset photos, we had a glimpse of sunlight sneak out from between the clouds as little droplets landed in the water for some glowy, sprinkling sunset photos.
Maya and Ty are so precious. Both are from different parts of the country with so much diversity in their friend and family group. I loved seeing all the different cultures represented under one roof united in their celebration of the newlyweds. Even with such different backgrounds, pretty much everyone knew how to dance and made their way to the dance floor at some point in the evening. Their dance party was unmatched!
I’m so thankful for Maya and Ty asking me to be a part of their wedding day. It was an honor to photograph them, and I’m also so thankful for their grace as I mispronounced several Jewish names. I was practicing the morning of their wedding with Risa (Maya’s mom), but when game time came, I still choked (pun intended) and mispronounced. It’s embarrassing, but at this point in my career, I have become so accustomed to mispronouncing names as I call out people for family photos that I almost don’t even notice it anymore. Thankfully, no one has ever been too offended, and we all just laugh at me as I blush and say it correctly about 5 times under my breath only to say it wrong again the next time I call that person. Why does my brain hate me so much???!!! On a serious note, this Jewish wedding was so pretty. It was such an honor getting to photograph it for the new Mr. and Mrs. Morgan.
