A Summer Wedding at The Barn at Chestnut Springs

Amy and Kelvin had a summer wedding at The Barn at Chestnut Springs on Tuesday of last week. I love middle of the week weddings. They are slower, more relaxed, smaller, and usually more tailored to what the couple wants vs. typical traditions. Amy and Kelvin’s Tuesday wedding was just that. They did a first look so we got to take some of their portraits before the wedding. It was a really sweet time for them to have some alone time before they said their vows. To laugh and explore the property together. I love that time with them because it’s before everything is official. The giddiness of what is about to happen is at its highest, and it’s just precious. As much as I love those photos, I’m SO glad Amy and Kelvin let me take them back out for sunset photos because, woah, they are crazy gorgeous. Something shifts after the ceremony. Instead of this child-like giddiness, the emotion morphs into an intense yearning for the other person. Pre-ceremony is filled with silly giggles bubbling to the surface while post-ceremony is filled with tight hugs with whispers that bring smiles to each other’s faces. I can think of about 100 different analogies to demonstrate the contrast between the two, but none of them quite do it justice. All I know is you can see it in Amy and Kelvin’s bride and groom portraits. Their wedding day is the number one example of why I will always ask my couples to sneak back out at sunset with me!
