One thing that always makes me laugh about my workflow is how little I actually know what my couples look like before their engagement session.
When someone inquires with me, the process starts with an email. This includes some basic information and a link to schedule a consultation call. During that call, we dive into the details of their wedding day and figure out which collection fits their needs best. Afterward, I send over my full pricing information. If they decide we’re a good fit, I get a booking proposal sent their way.
Once they’re officially booked, my amazing virtual assistant, Beth, jumps into action. She adds them to my newsletter, follows them on Instagram, and handles several other behind-the-scenes tasks that keep everything running smoothly. Because she takes care of so much of that, I often don’t actually know what my couples physically look like until the day of their engagement session.
So, when I arrived at Knoxville Botanical Garden for Hannah and Spencer’s garden engagement session, I did what I always do. I looked around for the couple who appeared slightly more dressed up than everyone else.
Sure enough, I spotted Hannah across the field in a beautiful white dress and started heading their direction.
The moment I introduced myself, I noticed how absolutely stunning Hannah is. Her hair and makeup looked flawless. Naturally, I assumed she had hired a professional hair & makeup artist for the session.
Nope.
She casually told me she had done it herself.
As we continued walking and chatting throughout the evening, she shared that she had grown up competing in pageants. This is where she learned how to do her own hair and makeup over the years. The more we talked, the more I realized she wasn’t talking about a few small, local pageants. Hannah is the real deal. And honestly, after seeing these photos, you’ll completely understand why.
She is absolutely gorgeous.
Pair her with Spencer, who looked equally sharp and handsome, and the result was pure magic in front of the camera. Most couples photograph well, but these two seemed to effortlessly fall into every pose and interaction. Their chemistry is natural, sweet, and so easy to photograph.
The gardens gave us the perfect backdrop with lush greenery, winding pathways, and beautiful spring blooms. Every corner seemed to offer another gorgeous spot, and Hannah and Spencer made each location look like it belonged in a bridal magazine.
When it came time to narrow down the images for this blog post, I failed miserably.
There are a lot of photos here.
A lot.
I simply couldn’t bring myself to cut many of them because every time I thought I had chosen my favorites, I found another one I loved just as much. And if you think this blog has a lot of images, you should see their full gallery. It is packed with beautiful moments and portraits that I couldn’t imagine deleting.
I’m already counting down the days until Hannah and Spencer’s wedding at Howe Farms. Their garden engagement session got me so excited, and I cannot wait to celebrate alongside them and document the beginning of their next chapter together.
