Jetny and Kevin threw out all the typical wedding stuff I’ve seen this season and came in with a completely fresh perspective. I knew immediately what kind of day it was going to be when I arrived to the girls’ airbnb to find Kevin’s houndstooth suit hanging in a window. My jaw dropped. It was awesome. Swanky shoes, velvet bowtie, the whole deal. Then, I looked over and saw Jetny’s dress; a classic off-the-shoulder that she wore marvelously. You guys, this wedding couldn’t get more elegant and classy.
What I really want to talk about here, however, is the way Jetny and Kevin incorporated their faith into their day. More specifically into their ceremony. There were scripture readings, two worship songs, and a short gospel. Out of those things, it was when Jetny lead the worship song while Kevin played the guitar that everyone got lost in the Holy Spirit swirling in the carriage house at Castleton Farms. Many of the guests spoke French and Creole, and about half of the ceremony was done in another language. Jetny sung the majority of her worship song in another language. I didn’t even know the words she was singing, but I was getting all teary from the passion overflowing in her worship. When she switched to English at the end, I heard her sing, “We give our marriage to you Lord,” and I knew why the song was impacting me so much. This is what I pray for my couples before every single wedding. That they give their marriage to the Lord. That they understand the weight of the commitment they’re making, and they hand it over to Jesus. It was in this particular moment I felt so much peace over that prayer. Almost confidence to keep praying that over each of my couples because it’s exactly what the Lord wants me to be praying over my couples. It gave me goose bumps and teary eyes, and it was just so beautiful.
I am so honored Jetny and Kevin had me as part of their day. It was so beautiful and so special and so magical. Their reception was filled with overflowing joy, killer dance moves, and smiles and laughter everywhere I turned. Not to mention one different and very delicious wedding cake 😉 I couldn’t be more excited for them to have made this commitment at Castleton Farms and to now begin their journey as a married couple. I have no doubt God will do crazy awesome things through their relationship!
