I honestly have so many angles I could come at on this blog post. Starting with the fact that Jessica and Aylor pretty much had every season except winter represented on their wedding day at Castleton Farms. We had scorching heat, bright sun, overcast coolness, morning crispness, drizzling, raining, humidity. They had it all. The thing I want you to take away from this (especially if you are planning a wedding right now) is if they had not done a first look, they would have had all of their bride and groom portraits on a porch (a very pretty porch, but still). I love this porch, and I usually opt to take photos on it even during a non-rainy day. Definitely not ALL of the photos though. Thank the heavens they did a first look because the portraits we got of them when it was sunny are definitely my fav!
Second. They have the most hilarious story about how they met. Jessica’s grandmother passed away, and her family had the funeral at Aylor’s funeral home. To hear Aylor tell this story is amazing because he says he was eyeing her the entire service but knew he couldn’t make a move at her grandmother’s funeral. As soon as it was all over, he went straight to Bumble to find her. To his surprise, she also left the service and went straight to Bumble to create an account to find him, too. It took 3 swipes before they came across each other’s feeds, and they matched instantly. Jessica lived in California at the time, and it didn’t take long before she was making arrangements to move back east. Their story is so so fun.
Third. I want to be Jessica’s great aunt when I’m 80. They were on the phone with her for a lot of the morning, and she had everyone laughing so hard. She was just telling stories from her life, but she was so animated and absolutely hysterical. I could overhear the speaker phone from the room I was in, and I was even laughing in there all by myself. Later in the evening, I told her she had everyone laughing that morning, and she gasped, “Wait. They could hear me?” I couldn’t stop laughing. She was so full of life and gumption, and I just hope I am like that when I’m 80.
Fourth. One of the groomsmen at Jessica and Aylor’s Castleton Farms wedding was an auctioneer. At all of the weddings in his family, they auction off a bottle of whiskey and give all the money to the couple to use on their honeymoon. So, he did that for Jessica and Aylor. It was really cool, and he ended up selling a bottle of bourbon for $1,000!!!
This wedding day was so sweet with so many unique moments. I’m so thankful to Jessica and Aylor for allowing me to be a part of it!
